This year, Abroad International School – Osaka held its first awareness week. The focus of this term’s awareness week was homelessness. The school community engaged in a variety of activities to learn more about homelessness and help those that are affected by this issue. Grade 7 kicked off the week with an excellent presentation explaining the root causes of homelessness and how we can help. Our school partnered with Homedoor, a Japan-based organization that serves the homeless community, to create care kits that would be donated to the homeless. Also, a Homedoor representative and a man that has experienced homelessness came as guest speakers via Zoom. To cap off the week, the entire school community was invited to wear orange to raise awareness about homelessness. A representative from Homedoor came to pick up the care kits and was amazed by the amount of kindness that our school has shown.
