4th July 2016We had a great 10th week in Saturday School juniors!We learned about Summer Solstice today, since June 21st was Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. We also learned some simple past verbs, and expanded vocabulary about the weather, things in the classroom, English movies, and English names. We had finished watching the movie ‘Bridge to Terabithia’ during snack time.
Phonics
- Basic phonics (a to u)
Grammar
- past simple verbs: regular- played, talked, danced, irregular: went, had, did, etc
- past simple negative: didn’t go, didn’t cook, etc
Vocabulary
- summer solstice: summer, earth, sun, season, longest day, tilt, axis
- summer vocabulary: pool, picnic, ice cream, road trip, car trip, bathing suit, vacation
Next Week in Juniors
We`ll focus on reading skills, and proper English pronunciation when speaking, and also improving everyday vocabulary. We’ll also make a wish for Tanabata, the Star Festival, and talk about the story behind Tanabata.
Please encourage your child to watch English kids shows and movies, and to listen to English songs.
