Early Learning Centre

Overview

The Early Learning Centre (ELC) is for children of ages three through five. We recognize all children are entitled to a best start in life and support to achieve their potential. A child’s experience has a vital impact on his/her future life chances, so we do our best to provide them with a safe, happy and secure learning environment.

Principles

  • Each child is unique
We believe every child brings qualities from birth that can all be directed in a positive and acceptable direction. Our commitment focuses around development, inclusion, safety and well-being.
  • Positive relationships
Children learn to be strong and independent in positive relationships with people. Our commitment focuses around respect, supporting learning and cooperation with parents.
  • Supportive environment
Environment plays a significant role in supporting and extending a child’s development and learning. Our commitment is focused around observation, assessment and planning; individual support; the learning environment; and in the wider context – transitions, continuity, and multi-agency working.
  • Enhanced learning and development
We are aware that children have their own strategies and learning pace, and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and connected to each other.
