Summer School / サマースクール 2016
21st June 2016Kinder Saturday School Newsletter – June 25
25th June 2016Abroad’s annual Literacy Week was May 30 – June 3. This year’s Literacy Week was the best Literacy Week ever! We planned many special activities that promoted literacy skills and the love of reading in all of the school’s languages!
First, we created special displays of pictures taken of our students while reading books. We received many wonderful photos of the students. It was nice to see everyone having so much fun reading!
Next, the primary students became buddy readers with the kindergarten and prekindergarten classes. These classes met to read books together and practice other early literacy skills. It was fun to see what good teachers the primary students could be and how enthusiastic the younger students were. We hope to repeat buddy reading again in the future!
In addition, each class displayed a special literacy project that the students created. Parents were invited to come and see these projects throughout the week. We hope that many parents were able to take advantage of this special opportunity to share in our Literacy Week learning.
Literacy Week was also a school spirit week. Each day, the students and teachers dressed up to celebrate the spirit of Dr. Seuss and his wonderful books. It was so much fun! Throughout the week, we listened to many of Dr. Seuss’s books and enjoyed their silly rhymes and pictures.
Last, we held book drive during Literacy Week. We were so happy to receive so many books! The donated books have already been added to the library so all of the students can start to enjoy them! Thank you for your generosity!
Thank you for all of your assistance during Literacy Week and we hope that your family had as much fun as we did!
