{"id":1717,"date":"2016-06-22T11:09:32","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T02:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abroadschools.jp\/osaka\/?p=1717"},"modified":"2016-06-22T11:09:32","modified_gmt":"2016-06-22T02:09:32","slug":"literacy-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abroadschools.jp\/osaka\/literacy-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Literacy Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Abroad&#8217;s annual\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Week<\/span>\u00a0was\u00a0May 30 &#8211; June 3.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s <span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Week<\/span> was the best <span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Week<\/span> ever! \u00a0We planned many special activities that promoted\u00a0<span class=\"il\">literacy<\/span>\u00a0skills and the love of reading in\u00a0all\u00a0of the school&#8217;s languages!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>First, we created special displays of pictures taken of our students while reading books.\u00a0 We\u00a0received\u00a0many\u00a0wonderful\u00a0<wbr \/>photos of the students. It was nice to see\u00a0everyone having so much fun reading!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Next, the primary students became buddy readers with the kindergarten and prekindergarten classes.\u00a0 These classes met to read books together and practice other early <span class=\"il\">literacy<\/span> skills.\u00a0 It was fun to see what good teachers the primary students could be and how enthusiastic the younger students were.\u00a0 We hope to repeat buddy reading again in the future!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>In addition, each class displayed a special <span class=\"il\">literacy<\/span> project that the students created.\u00a0 Parents were invited to come and see these projects throughout the <span class=\"il\">week<\/span>.\u00a0 We hope that many parents were able to take advantage of this special opportunity to\u00a0share in our\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Week<\/span>\u00a0learning.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Week<\/span>\u00a0was also a school\u00a0spirit\u00a0<span class=\"il\">week<\/span>. Each day, the students and teachers dressed up to celebrate the spirit of Dr. Seuss and his wonderful books.\u00a0 It was so much fun!\u00a0 Throughout the <span class=\"il\">week<\/span>, we listened to many of Dr. Seuss&#8217;s books and enjoyed their silly rhymes and pictures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Last, we held book drive during\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Week<\/span>.\u00a0 We were so happy to receive so many books!\u00a0 The donated books have already been added to the library so all of the students can start to enjoy them! \u00a0Thank you for your generosity!<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Thank you for all of your assistance during <span class=\"il\">Literacy<\/span> <span class=\"il\">Week<\/span> and we hope that your family had as much fun as we did!<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>[foogallery id=&#8221;1670&#8243;]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abroad&#8217;s annual\u00a0Literacy\u00a0Week\u00a0was\u00a0May 30 &#8211; June 3.\u00a0 This year&#8217;s Literacy Week was the best Literacy Week ever! \u00a0We planned many special activities that promoted\u00a0literacy\u00a0skills and the love of reading in\u00a0all\u00a0of the school&#8217;s languages!
