The overnight camping trip to Genki Mura was fantastic! Students really took to the spirit of adventure and exploration. They acted with respect for themselves, others, and the environment around them. With that respect always in mind, they enjoyed several activities including traditional paper-making, hiking, orienteering, sports, and cooking. They managed their meals with diligence and care, not leaving any mess or trash behind, representing their school with pride and dignity. Events culminated with stargazing at the observatory, where we viewed the moon at 200x magnification, through a crystal-clear lens, followed by the planet Jupiter and three of it’s 53 total moons: Io, Ganymede, and Europa. The night was ended with a massive campfire where we played games, roasted marshmallows, and told stories. Everyone–students, teachers, and parents–worked together to make this one of the greatest events that Abroad International School has had thus far. Here’s to a repeat trip next year!
